Ugonna was born and raised in Nigeria. She is a mother of one. Ugonna worked as a part time substitute teacher in her local elementary school while pursuing a Law degree from Abia State University in Nigeria.
After graduating she went to the Nigerian Law school where she obtained a Barrister at Law Certificate upon her admittance to the Nigerian Bar. Her strong passion for public service led her to move to the United States in 2007 to pursue an MBA in public Management at Dowling College New York after which she went further to Atlanta John Marshall Law School for a Master of Law degree in Employment Law.
Ugonna moved to Oregon in 2008 while completing her studies and has made Beaverton her home since then. She chose to stay in Beaverton so that her son could get a quality education at good, safe schools and experience the many opportunities our community has to offer.
Her experience as a teacher in her local elementary school in Nigeria taught her that every child is important, every child deserves to have their needs met and every child is worth a quality and equitable education.
As a working mom and proud Mountain View Middle School parent, Ugonna will ensure all students, no matter what background or home they come from, have the same opportunity to succeed in Beaverton’s schools.
